Jazzpunk: Flavour Nexus
Jazzpunk is often compared to Thirty Flights of Loving, being a graphically primitive, surreal experiment. With Flavour Nexus, Necrophone Games have retroactively made their equivalent of Gravity Bone – a graphically primitive, surreal prototype with minimal substance. It was originally a cut chapter from the main game, and it’s fairly obvious why. Nothing of consequence happens. Your objective is just to enter the world’s silliest grocery store and dick around for a bit. Of course, that’s not too far removed from Jazzpunk’s regular gameplay, and there are certainly some funny moments to be had here, although it dips into the well of non-sequiturs and anti-humour too often. Additionally, some of the jokes repeat themselves, which is frankly unacceptable for a 45-minute diversion. It does work as a diversion though. You won’t be bored or frustrated, just mildly entertained and confused.
